Portfolio charts

The Chart menu in the Portfolio toolbar (also View ▸ Chart) draws a chart above the table. The Expand Chart button (⤢, View ▸ Expand Chart or ⇧⌘E) lets it fill the window; Esc brings the table back. Charts use your first operating currency, and No Chart hides them.

Two lines across the period, one point per interval:

  • Market Value — what your investments were worth at each date.
  • Invested — what you had paid for them (book value).

The gap between the lines is your unrealized gain. When Invested steps up, you bought; when the lines separate, the market moved. Hover to read both figures and the gain on any date.

The last point matches the summary above the table. It covers the positions held at cost; cash is not part of it.

The price directives of one commodity during the period, with your own story drawn on top:

  • A dashed line at your average cost. Price above the line means you are in profit on average.
  • A dot for each purchase you still hold, at the price you paid. Hover for “Bought 12 at 98.40”.

Choosing what to look at:

  • Select a row in the table and the chart shows that commodity.
  • The pop-up menu above the chart lists every pair that has prices in the ledger — also the ones you do not hold, such as USD/EUR or gold. Next to it, the number of prices in the period.
  • Selecting a row in the table again overrides the menu.

There is no separate “commodities” screen as in Fava: a price matters in relation to what you hold, so it lives here.

If nothing appears, the ledger has no price directives dated inside the period. Widen the period.

One horizontal bar per commodity with its unrealized gain, zero in the middle: gains to the right, losses to the left, the figure next to each bar. It answers at a glance which investments carry the result.

Only holdings with a price in your operating currency appear.
